Radiohead's Pablo Honey Turns 20

20 years ago last Friday, Radiohead gave the world their debut album, Pablo Honey (Yes, the one with Creep on it).   While the pre-Nigel Godrich-era album may not be one of my favorites, it definitely holds its own.  Fun facts I just learned about the album:  it was named after a Jerky Boys bit, the producers first thought Creep was a cover (a misunderstanding), and the band called Jonny Greenwood's Creep guitar slash sound, "The Noise."  And to top it off, the producers pretty much describe my dream job...topless Radiohead and all:
"I remember having a lot of fun with them. The studio was kind of an old converted school, and we'd be watching movies, staying up late, drinking warm ale," Kolderie said. "There weren't really weren't any horrible sex and drugs stories ... I remember it was rainy and cold all the time, but one day, about 1 p.m., the sun came out and it was a blazing, glorious sun, and everyone just ran outside and took their shirts off and sat in the sun. Now, looking back on it, it's hilarious — Radiohead without their shirts — but at the time, it was just fun."  Paul Q. Kolderie and Sean Slade (MTV)
Driftwood would like to honor the anniversary with our favorite track off the album, Lurgee.
