There's an indiepop resurgence of sorts going on right now (witnessed firsthand with my recent trip to NYC Popfest), and Philadelphia's Mercury Girls are an exciting new entry to the scene. With what appears to be only two demos released so far, "Golden" is a promising, shimmery, melodic taste of what's hopefully to come. If I could be anywhere on Friday night, it would be at Cake Shop in NYC to see a stacked bill featuring Mercury Girls, Diet Cig, Heathers, and Gingerlys. A couple of our LA-based Super Music Friends will be in town to catch the show (lucky!) and can hopefully convince Mercury Girls to come to LA in the near future. We'll keep you posted when/if they do!
