Christmas is only a week away, and three of our favorite songstresses have just released holiday tunes to get you in the mood. Mr Little Jeans gives us an original Christmas tune with "Dear Santa" that already sounds like a classic, while Meiko breathes new light on a Christmas favorite in "Wonderful Christmastime". And then there's Rocky the dog making a another appearance with FEMME and her Bullet Girls in the frolicking "Rocky Around The Christmas Tree". LA-based singer/songwriter Meiko is back with her third album Dear You which is released tomorrow and preceded by its first single "Be Mine". Written about the difficulties of a long-distance relationship and the need for a good shag and some cuddling, "Be Mine" finds Meiko stepping out and grabbing an electric guitar to add some crunch to her normal glisten. We've had a chance to listen to the new album and can say that it's her best yet. A confessional, darker album, you'll find an array of sounds representing an artist who's broadening her range and baring her soul. Meiko's sophomore album The Bright Side is finally out tomorrow. While her singer/songwriter folk roots are still intact, her new album introduces electronic beats into the mix and showcases her progression as a songwriter and performer. Half of team Driftwood (as well as a few of Driftwood's followers!) will be celebrating the release of her new album with her tonight at Hotel Cafe, the venue that saw her go from a waitress to mainstay performer. Looking forward to it.

Driftwood has been lucky enough to score a special invite to a private "industry showcase" on Friday night in Hollywood to hear budding singer/songwriter Meiko (with full band) preview songs from her upcoming sophomore album. As a fan who's watched her blossom from a waitress at the Hotel Cafe to now one of its mainstay headliners, this should be a special show. You & Onions was the hidden track at the end of Meiko's self-released 2007 debut album and captures two of her best sensibilities - humor and love. And she was also responsible for THIS :)
