Another favorite from Los Angeles, Mellowdrone was basically the creative genius Jonathan Bates and whoever he decided to have back him up.  In the early days he would be backed only by a drum machine and a sampler that he would loop riffs on much like Andrew Bird or a growing number of artists these days.  After 2 albums and 4 EPs (many given away free on the internet), Jonathan appears to have unofficially moved on to other projects like Big Black Delta.  Whatever the Deal is off of Mellowdrone's first full length Box, which also features the bands cover of Boyz II Men's Hard to Say Goodbye.
