With talent that was supposed to make them a shoe-in to be a 2013 Mercury Prize nominee, London Grammar melds minimalistic instrumentation (in the vein of a more cinematic The XX) with the incredible vocals of lead singer Hannah Reid. Hannah could definitely give Florence Welch (and her Machine) a run for her money. Surprisingly, the London trio were overlooked and did not get the Mercury nod. More time for us to enjoy them before they get big. Their debut album, If You Wait, was released 2 weeks ago and London Grammar will be in town to play a sold out show at the Troubadour next week (9/25) before continuing up the West Coast.
